After Apple recently announced a delay to OS X 10.5 Leopard I had to delay my iMac upgrade until the Autumn. This led me to thinking about how to speed up Tiger to get the most out of my ageing G5.
This is what I came up with:
1. Repair Disk Permissions
Navigate to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Select your Macintosh HD and select Verify Disk Permissions. If needed you can then Repair Disk Permissions.
2. Clear out login items
Its good to check that unwanted programs are not starting up when you login to your Mac. This can be done from System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items.

Microsoft to dump 32-bit CPU version after Windows vista

Windows Vista will be the last version of Windows for Pentium 4 and Core Duo owners. Microsoft has used its annual hardware engineering conference to announce that Windows Vista and Server 2008 will be the last versions of Windows to run on 32 bit computing.

After the software giant has gotten over its hangover from partying like it’s 1999 with the release of Windows Server 2008, it will have one last 32-bit hurrah with a “release 2” update to Windows Server 2008, and that’ll be it.

You can use Ubuntu Linux on 32 bit computer. It supports office apps, browsing, IM, email etc.

How to find and change Nintendo Wii DNS server IP address

Nintendo Wii is fine game console system. You can find out current DNS server IP address or change them using following method:

Make sure your Wii is connected to the Internet.
Select Wii Options.
Select Wii Settings.
Now click the right arrow once to view the Internet option > Click Internet
Select Connection Settings.
Now select the connection profile you are currently using.
Select Change settings
Select Auto-Obtain DNS settings i.e. click the right arrow three times until you see Auto-Obtain DNS settings.
Click No, then Advanced Settings.
Now click on Primary DNS and Secondary DNS fields and type in your ISP DNS server IP addresses.
Select confirm > Click on Save and Finally click on OK to start the connection test.
Next perform a Wii system update.
And you are done!
