US warns on India soft drinks ban

Five Indian states have announced partial bans on the drinks in schools, colleges and hospitals. Southern Kerala state is the first to completely ban their production and sale.

Now us official started to send messages to Govt. Of India:
“A US official has warned India that bans imposed on soft drinks like Coca Cola and Pepsi could blight its hopes of attracting American investment.”

Well to be frank I still drink the both Coca and Pepsi. There is too much pollution out there in all Indian cities that does not mean I should stay in home only.

Let the people decide what is good and bad for them…

Windows XP or 98 how to use long filenames in the command prompt

Windows XP or 98 support long file names including a blank space. For example consider following file name:
=> My resume.doc
=> Financial data Aug 2006.xls

These long file names can easily managed with GUI such as windows explore. However when it comes to command prompt specifying long file names with a blank space will cause lots of trouble.

To get rid of this problem enclose the filename in double quotes. For example if you want to make a backup copy of file – Financial data Aug 2006.xls to Financial data Aug 2006 Backup.xls:

copy "Financial data Aug 2006.xls" "Financial data Aug 2006 Backup.xls"

Or just renmae a file:
ren "Financial data Aug 2006.xls" "My Backup.xls"

Change the location of where Firefox saves the downloaded file

Q. How do I change the location of where Firefox, the web browser, save the downloaded files?

A. By default file is saved to your desktop.

To change the default location of where Firefox saves the downloaded files:

  • Open the Firefox web browser
  • Click on edit menu
  • Select preferences option
  • Select Downloads – This panel controls how Firefox handles different file types such as applications, compressed files, multimedia, etc.
  • Now you can configure where the downloads will be saved for every download (Save all files to this folder option) – This is the default option. It allows you to specify a default folder where all downloads will be saved to, such as the My Downloads folder (windows XP). You can browse to a specific folder by selecting Other… from the drop-down list of available folders. To show the folder, click the Show Folder button, which will open the folder in the default file manager (e.g. Windows Explorer or Nautilus under Linux).

KANK review – Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna movie review

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna movie poster

I love music of this movie besides we have great stars (Rani, Abhishek, King khan etc). As usual this is a love story (and movie name starts with K .. heh).

King khan (DEV ) was a professional footballer and his career ends because of terrible accident. Preity (Reha) is wife of SRK. They have a son (oh SRK is getting old now ;) ) Arjun.

Other couple is Rani (Maya) a kid’s schoolteacher and Abhishek (Rishi) is a PR consult.

One fine day Dev and Maya meets and the love story begin. Not to mentioned this cause all sort of trouble for rest of family member.

So how all the different characters deal with this new development in their lives forms the bottom of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Cast

  • Amitabh Bachchan
  • Shahrukh Khan
  • Rani Mukerji
  • Preity Zinta
  • Abhishek Bachchan
  • Producer – Dharma Productions
  • Director by Karan Johar

Overall, it turns out a disappointment. I will give only 2 / 5 (1 for music and 1 for nice photography or whatever you call it).

Update: Most on line review (Yahoo India and CNN IBN) site has given these movie 4+ ratings. Good job Mr. Karan Johar for corrupting online site review providers. Thanks to all Indian bloggers out there. Truth is out! I will never-ever read those sites again.

Update2: Golden Movie Critic left a very nice comment below “..I hope that the DVD version has alternate endings..” I agree with commenter (anyway who is going to buy DVD ;) )

Setting List Item Permissions in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and SharePoint Server 2007

This is nice article explains howto setting List Item Permissions in WSS3.0 or MOSS 2007.

FTA, “One of the cool new things in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (get your public beta here) – and make no mistake, there are a lot of cool things to go around in these products — is fine-grained (item-level) security. This was a big big customer wish from the current “v2” versions of the products, and it’s fantastic to see it in the products now… I’m going set permissions on a individual SPListItem. I’ll create or access a Role Assignment (which essentially represents the user), bind a Role Definition to the Assignment..”
