  1. Thanks a lot.
    Very helpful information to change server password from remote.

  2. Older Windows server software requires that you find “Windows Security” this way:

    –When logged in remotely to a Windows box, the password change using CTRL-ALT-DELETE will not work.

    — Windows Change Password: Windows Password Change:

    — Start->Settings->Windows Security
    — Press “Change Password”
    — Enter old password and the new password twice in the text boxes
    — Press “OK”

  4. So.. I hit like 10 different sites before coming to yours. Being an old school Unix admin for a large company I am forced to use MS products. My admin account is maintained in MS AD and a password change requirement just arose. So, I telecommute and I have my standard account on a Windows connection via VPN. Sure, ctrl + alt + end works great.. to the first RDP. I needed to change my admin account pass and wasn’t about to log off of my standard session due to the vast amount of junk I always have opened. Trying to find a simple solution to a simple problem started to prve to be not so simple.. Until I stumbled in here. Thank you for this as it just helped to preserve the sliver of sanity I have left..

  6. Thanks Vivek,

    This was very helpful.
    As an alternate to (1.Click on “Start”, “Administrative Tools”, then “Computer Management”), you can
    1.Click on “Start”, right-click on “Computer”, then select “Manage” to find the same “Local Users and Groups” options, which was the way I had to do this under a Windows 7 client attempting to adjust a remote Windows 7 host.

    Cheers,
