Yes, having google sitemap / xml sitemap is the right way to increase visibility of your website to Google as well as to other Search Engines: Yahoo, Bing etc. To get xml sitemap you can can google for something like “Free Online XML Sitemap Generator” and find one that will work for you. Google’s main idea was to make web-sites more “Crawler-friendly” which would help search engines to do their indexing more effectively…

Have you notice any changes in adding a sitemap? feeds/post/default are not indexed anymore.
