You can now add Google sitemap to your blogger.com account and increase your chances of being indexed in Google search engine result. You can add a Sitemap to your account to give Google more information about the pages in your site to help Google crawl them more effectively.
Step # 1: Login to sitemap account
At the top of screen you will see option to add site. Just paste URL of your blog (for example http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/)
Click on Ok button. Next you will get confirmation message. Your site has been added to your account.
Step # 2: Now you need to verify your ownership of blog to view detailed statistics. Click on verify link. Google offers two methods of verification. You can either upload an HTML file with a name we specify (which is not possible with Google Blogger account), or you can add a META tag to your site’s index file. Adding META tag via template code is possible so just select Add a META tag from drop down menu:
It will generate code for you, copy the meta tag and paste it into your blogger.com template section).
Step # 3: Go to your blogger.com and login to your account. Goto your blog > Click on Template
Paste the META tag code after section:
Click on Save Template changes button
Click on Republish Index only button > Wait for few seconds so that your blog being published successfully.
Step # 4: Now goto sitemap account and click the box that read as follows:
I’ve added the META tag in the home page of http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/. Click on Verify button.
Step # 5: Now your site is added to sitemap account and verification is done. Next you need to add actual sitemap url. Since blogger.com account don’t allow you to create a text file or anything else you need to add your site feed (ATOM xml) file as a site map. Click on add a sitemap link:
Step # 6: You can add a Sitemap to your account to provide Google additional information about about your blog. Google will process your Sitemap and provide information on any errors in the Sitemaps tab as well your sitemap will be downloaded everyday to index your blog fast.
Select type as : Add General Web sitemap
Now you need to add Atom 0.3 feeds. Generally, you would use this format only if your site already has a syndication feed and this is the only way to add sitemap to your blogger.com account.
Paste url of your Atom feed: For example http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/atom.xml and click on Add Web sitemap:
Update: If you are using a new blogger beta system, use http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full as a feed url.
You will get confirmation:
You have added a Sitemap to http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/. Reports may take several hours to update. Thank you for your patience!
And you are done and your blog will be now index very fast (depend upon your posting and content).
Thank you so much for these instructions — it’s exactly what I needed! I read somewhere else that the one major drawback with using the Blogspot XML Feed as the Sitemap URL is that only new pages will likely be submitted to the Sitemap, since the feeds are meant to send out new/recent blog data and not a complete map. However, until I figure out how to get my entire Blogger Blogspot properly sitemapped, your method is by far the best (and easiest) way I’ve found so far. — thanks again, Lucas Brachish
Thanks, this helped a lot. I got stuck at uploading the xml file. I thought I had to add the one that google generated and couln’t figure out how to upload it. Now I know that blogger does not support it and I did the way you explained – easy!
Victoria
Thanks a lot.The Screenshots helped me a lot.I got really lost with the process and in no time I could thanks to you

Thank you very much!!!
Now I test it!
Bye bye
Thanx a lot………..:)
Thanks so much for this helpful tip! I’ve had http://sushiberry.blogspot.com listed on my google account since I created it, but didn’t realize I could use the Atom feed as a sitemap. Hopefully it’ll finally get indexed now!
THIS WORKED GREAT! Thanks so much for saving me HOURS of research!
i sure do know this..its in google’s [?} when adding a sitemap, there are 3 options and syndication feed is an option but is very limited to newer posts only, actually 5 posts only!!!how is google not doing anything for blogger support of submitting sitemaps that are generated by 3rd party or even its sitemap generator instead???
Hi,
Thanks very much for putting up such a helpful page.
But in your step #6, you mentioned that in order to submit the sitemap URL, I need to ensure that I have syndication feed. How do I do that and how would I know if I have syndication. By the way I am using Blogger Beta Version.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards
Hi,
Your feed url is:
http://passiontosuccess.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full
You can always open your blog and view the source code:
alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” line
Hope this helps
Hi NixCraft,
Many thanks for the answer. Managed to get part of the problem solved.
I’ve generated the sitemap for my blog but I do not know how to upload this xml file to the blogger account.
Hope someone can assist.
You don’t have to upload the file; just paste url http://passiontosuccess.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full Atom feed as a sitemap.
Hi nixCraft,
I did place your recommended URL for submission as sitemap. But I get the following remark after hiiting the “Submit” button:The Sitemap must be located at http://passiontosuccess.blogspot.com/. To add a Sitemap at http://passiontosuccess.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full/, first add that site to your account and then click the Add a Sitemap link beside it.
Please let me know what has possibly gone wrong.
hi i have a site http://e-bookzone.blogspot.com/ i have added the site map even then my site is not added to google what can i do
@Arun,
It takes some time; mean while keep posting on your blog and slowly google will accept you.
@William,
This seems to be blogger beta software related problem. Sitemap only accept url if it is located at root. All you can do it send an email to blogger team about fixing this problem or use old blogger.com account.
Hi NixCraft
I am using Blogger beta, and my feed is at http://chml-srucnoc-1.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
but in Google sitemaps I gave the feed url as http://chml-srucnoc-1.blogspot.com/atom.xml
That page redirects to the main atom page.
Question is.. will Google sitemaps work with just the atom.xml feed url ?
Hi Justtupeu,
Yes it should work as atom.xml URL automatically sends 302 status code.
hi~
I am a Blogger beta user
I follow the direction but still get
the “XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace” error.
http://chunghe.blogspot.com
Thanks a lot!
It is so helpful!!
Hi
Thanks for this tutorial. I am beta Blogger user, and my feed: http://newsblogging.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full.My problem: I got remark after Submit: “first add that site to your account and then click the Add a Sitemap link beside it.” That’s why I wrote my older feed: http://newsblogging.blogspot.com/atom.xml and after pending I got this: “Line:1 Incorrect namespace. Your Sitemap or Sitemap index file doesn’t properly declare the namespace.”
Please let me know what to do.
Thanks very much.
Thanks, this is the information that i was looking for. It would help a lot in my page ranking.
blogger beta users, try this: http://xxxxxx.blogspot.com/rss.xml
Really cool tip, just used it, and now am waiting to see how it works. Currently having a wager with a boss to determin who can get a higher google ranking for our dog’s blogs
mine is http://cyberwoof.blogspot.com/ hopefully soon to be on google :-D
thank you Mauro, I am a beta blogger my sitemap is accepted now I subbmitted rss.xml instead of atom.xml.
Now I only have to wait.
I use Blogger Beta and added: http://campusaid.blogspot.com/rss.xml
This was accepted by Google and I am awaiting results of the crawl. Thanks for your help. — Joe

Hi
Thanks for this tutorial. Thanks very much.
Try,
http://newsblogging.blogspot.com/rss.xml
That rss.xml not working anymore. Firts it worked ok, but now Google webmaster tools shows errors. Maybe this is some bug. If you check atom.xml and rss.xml source now…both are same, but if you check this file http://newsblogging.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss source it’s starts with RSS tag (not FEED), but Google sitemaps not accept that file.
yes linex-box, rss.xml not working anymore. I have the same problem.
Still having trouble with beta blogger sitemap. I tried both the rss.xml and the /posts/full methods. Both give me the same namespace, xml and other errors. Any solution to this?
I’m having the same problem. rss.xml was working fine. Now, Google shows the error–File Not Found.
I got same problem as a guy above me :). I can’t submit it on sitemap.. It says: Incorrect namespace … any solutions for this trouble?
http://we-make-you-laugh.blogspot.com/
If you’re using Blogger Beta where it says My Sitemap URL is: you will
need to add the rss.xml rss feed and not the atom feed.
Ex: YOURNAME.Blogspot.com/rss.xml
rss.xml results in namespace error just like atom.xml.
Doesnt Work with either of rss.xml or atom.xml. Generates namespace error
Now both rss.xml and atom.xml are working fine! :)
Yes, using http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full as a feed url in beta blogger, it doesn’t work. I solved using http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml and it works.
Thank you very much.
Franciov
This is great. Sitemap now accepted for http://computercleanup.blogspot.com/rss.xml
– Steve
Thank you so much! I have been trying to figure this out for two weeks! Your instructions were so easy, even I could do it! (I am blonde after all *wink*)
thanks so much! (k) i was looking to this info and this was the best and really comprehensive guide i ever found thanks so much
This is so great! I tried http://myblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full as Sitemap addy. It did not work. But I used http://myblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml and it did work! :)
Yeah, it’s working for me too. I just happened to notice that for once it wasn’t showing an error, so I added sitemaps to my other blogs and then on my two older ones (relatively) I noticed that the feed is only publishing the most recent 26 posts. Is there any way to fix that so it shows all of them or perhaps a hack that I can generate a full (i.e. accurate) sitemap like I want?
Same to me..looks like http://myblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml works to me..
Anyway..nice articles..

Thanks a lot…that’s the exact information I was looking for. The steps are very simple and I found it awesome.
Thank you again for the information.
Excellent post! I have been scratching my head about this whole sitemap thing for a couple of hours. As other comments have mentioned, Google’s help pages are not at all clear on this – they seem to be focussed on traditional web sites, rather than blogs. Keep up the great work.
I used http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/ as the site name, and then used http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full as the sitemap.
Is this ok? Will this work?
Idol Theory
Ok nevermind. What I asked about before did not work. Am now trying the rss.xml at the http://yourblogname.blogspot.com level
hey i have two blogspot webpages http://vocab-wordoftheday.blogspot.com and http://myblog-mesothelioma.blogspot.com
i would like to get indexed and be on a search engine but i can’t do the sitemap thing :(
how long does it usually take to get indexed by google???
Hi,
As you already say, http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/ doesn´t work because google sitemaps requieres that the sitemap were located on the site root.
http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml
works fine, but it contains just the newer posts.
I’ve realised that http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?max-results=1000
returns all the post of my site.
My question is, does anybody knows how to retrive all post using some url from the site’s root?
TIA
Christian
Thank you for the infos! In spite the misinformation of the Google/Blogspot, bless to God there is this Blog givening us the tricks! I’m posting in portuguese in my blog the tip with the link to this blog.
Hi,
cool info here.. thank you
it helped
This post was really greatful and am indeed greatful
Really thanks man!
I was trying it for hours and you made it so simple, finally i added my blog http://dindinweb.blogspot.com in google search, thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Dude. Thank you. This is exactly what I needed and I didn’t need to read any other site. This is a must for all newbie blogspot starterers (if that’s such a word)
Yes, this is the easiest way to submit sitemap to Google if you do not have a site that hosted at an outside server. And bloggers can do this by submitting the atom or rss xml files to Google (in fact just the address) so that your blogs will be indexed by much more chance at Google.
Eg, we added:
http://ideasandtipsplanet.blogspot.com/atom.xml
http://ideasandtipsplanet.blogspot.com/rss.xml
to Google so that our blog http://ideasandtipsplanet.blogspot.com/ could be better indexed.
Notice we have two choices to do that (i.e. atom and rss xml files, which are 2 popular feed format on internet), and Rss sometimes seems to be better.
Keep an eye on the following 2 sites or blogs or wikis to know what\’s going on about Google Index, Google Adsense and more:
http://ideasandtipsplanet.blogspot.com/
http://binqiangliu.jot.com/WikiHome
Being afraid our comment would not be shown, we post some of our last post again, pls excuse our worry, alles Gute!

I am not sure if it helps, because usually the pages indexed by google for my blog get to lower numbers after submitting the SiteMap
Thanks for the great instructions, very helpful screenshots! This will help anyone with a Blogger blog get better exposure and more traffic. I also have gotten great RSS results with Feedburner. I’d highly recommend your site to anyone who wants to know how to get better search engine results!
I have the same problem that many above, with both of
http://guanaco17.blogspot.com/atom.xml
http://guanaco17.blogspot.com/rss.xml
google complains about “URL not allowed”, “Invalid XML: too many tags” and “Incorrect namespace” errors.
I’m using feedburner, maybe that’s the problem.
Anybody has been successfull adding sitemaps without errors?

Great info – and a very interesting thread. Here’s a question for you people out there. I moved a blogger account over to my own server (so I’m publishing from within Blogger via FTP). As I have a pretty good archive, I’d like to get the older pages into the system as well. The Atom only registers the last five or so. What do you recommend?
Since you have FTP access try Sitemaps Third Party Programs & Websites
Looking for some promotion to the site i have build , if you can put input and review i will be glad to know what is going for my site
Thank you very much.
You are the best helper in the world!!!!!!!
See the http://groapacuprosti.ro
I found the solutions to one of the comments. I’m using feedburner and you didn’t include the sitemap for feedburner user. Anyway, for those FEEDBURNER USERS WHO WANTS TO ADD THEIR SITEMAP:
Follow all the instructions on the post but type this for yopur sitemap url:
http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false
http://thebadminton.blogspot.com
Thanks a lot for this! Very useful. I’ve now been able to add a sitemap to my video game blog http://gametheoryonline.blogspot.com/
Thank you.
Thanks a lot for the information. I’ve tried both rss.xml and atom.xlm but I’ve been unsuccessfull to have the site map of my Walleye Fishing Blog successfully completed.

http://filmitrailers.blogspot.com/
Just wanted to add my thanks! Why on earth Blogger hasn’t included this in their ‘Help’ (nor even linked to your site) must remain a mystery ;)
In case anybody’s still lost: your blog template is in Layout -> Edit HTML.
Thanks! I really appreciate this tutorial. I’m looking forward to increased traffic now. :-)

Thanks very much for this information. Me and a few friends who have blogs were having issues with google not listing our blogger stuff. I agree with a few of the other commenters, its daft that Google have not done this for you seeing as they own Blogger! U should talk to them.

thanks. so much.

Thanks, It saved my time, I was looking a way to upload sitemap.xml file in blogger.
Thank you so much for this great post. May I know is it rss.xml or atom.xml?
Cheers!
Just found out that also with using a new blogger account you have to use the atom.xml feed, which is formatted automatically out of the new feed.

Thank you, you are a frekin genius!
Thanks, this was very helpful.
By the way if you have linked your blogger adress to a custom domain then you just add /atom.xml to the end of you custom domain (eg. my site index is located at http://www.student10k/atom.xml)
Edit: sorry I made a mistake in my last post, I forgot the .com
So if you have a custom domain the sitemap would be something like: http://www.student10k.com/atom.xml
Thanks man! i did everything myself but got stuck with the actual URL entry, which is not located under the main directory and it didn’t let me.
there is no way of knowing you can just add /atom.xml

I want that my blog should be listed along with others how its possible or let me know if i am commiting any mistake.
I have added the sitemap as: http://myblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false
or i should add http://myblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml which one is ok please let me know.
How much times it takes to get the blog listed in google.

I found your post straightforward and easy to follow tips on how to create sitemap with google. May I know some more of how we could add a sitemap page in our blogger account not only for search engine purpose as well as for the visitors viewpoint?
Thanks, but I found google only indexed a few pages of my blog. in atom.xml, there is no full list of blog. What atom.xml does? It is different from sitemal.xml. Right?
I don’t think this is the true sitemap. Is it an RSS feed right? Actually, google n Yahoo! have the standar sitemap (xml). You can see my sitemap as example, in http://www.iroel.web.id/sitemap.xml. Unfortunately, I use wordpress. I’ve search a tutorial for adding sitemap for blogger.com, but I’ve got nothing. I’m so sorry for my useless comment. But I’m sure that this is not true sitemap, it’s just an RSS.
Hi I have tried all RSS.xml , atom.xml and sitemape.xml and http://yoursitename.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false
still getting error message , can you help me out what should i use exactly

great work dear…that is what i m needed….
thanks a lot….
Wham bam, thank you mam…… Good on ya mate!
Cheers from below.
Just a quick thanks for this awesome help and you clearly explained it in the most simplest but yet the most effective way of how to add a sitemap. Cheers to you!
By default, atom.xml only contains 25 posts. If you want you increase the number of posts in your atom.xml, change your URL to:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100
This will give you 100 posts. I think blogger has a limit on the number of posts in your atom.xml file, but I am not sure what it is.
If you have more than 100 posts, simply add another URL to get the next batch:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=101&max-results=200
I hope you get the idea.
Thank you very much! Maltalunch.com now has a atmo.xml-sitemap! Br, Joakim

“Paths don’t match

i think i got what i wanted. still i se this adds only the last 25 urls
it says URLs restricted by robots.txt when i try to add site map on my blogger how to solve this
Thanx a ton!
i have just done what u have said.
i wonder if it works.
how’d i figure if it worked for me, as i am already on google.
Hi folks,
At first i too scratched my head to find “HTTP error : 404 not found” whether i give atom.xml or rss.xml or others..
Later i found in the dashboard where i add the site names
both the below are added :
justnareshbw.blogspot.com
http://www.justnareshbw.blogspot.com
and i added meta tag for http://www.justnareshwb.blogspot.com and trying to add sitemap to it.. I really dont know how both are automatically added to dashboard.
So i added metatag for justnareshbw.blogspot.com and then tried to add sitemap by atom.xml and it was successful.
So guys please check if ur doing it for a wrong URL as both URL (one with WWW and one without ) will be added to ur dashboard automatically.
Also , when ur doing correctly box to be filled will come next to //XXXXXX.blogspot.com/
and if ur doing wrongly (for WWW URL) then you get box to be filled in the next line of //www.XXXXXX.blogspot.com/
Hope this helps.
http://justnareshbw.blogspot.com/
yeah this info is very useful for me ..thanQ

I’m having some trouble with my blog and feedburner. I’m using a
template and everything was great when I started. I uploaded a sitemap
to google using rss.xml and it was indexing on google and that worked
for a few days then suddenly I noticed google stopped indexing it so
after doing some research I changed my sitemap to rss.xml?
redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100 and now I am getting a
404 error url not found. Is that just because the sitemap has not
finished processing? I am wondering if the sitemap is actually
processing or it is just sitting there because something is broken
because when I submitted it as rss.xml the process didn’t take long at
all. when I download the errors it shows this – URL,Linked
From,Discovery Date
http://americanlifeinthephilippines.blogspot.com/YOURLINKHERE,http://…
my blogger site is http://americanlifeinthephilippines.blogspot.com/
If you can help me figure out what I did wrong I would appreciate it.
Thanks…
I was wondering how to add a sitemap when blogger doesn’t allow uploading of files and I came across your article. If Google reads the feed and Blogger creates it then the sitemap update is fully automated, fantastic.
As search engines don’t like duplicated content I’ve also decided to set my Blogger – Settings – Site feed – Allow blog feeds setting to short.
Thanks for this article, it has saved me a lot of time, and left me more time to play great free games

i’m having problems with this sitemap thing.. this post is very helpful…
It is remarkable, rather amusing message
It seems that doing so will only submit only 24 urls and not all the post on the site. I have around 600 posts on my blogspot blog and that’s less than 5% of the posts. any idea of to get around that?
Cheers,
C K

This method is for only 25 last post. If you want to do sitemap for all posts – url:http://blogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100

Need help
hi m new in blog and i want to people search my blog on the google and others best search engine
for google i don’t know where to fill meta code can some one plz tell me full steps for this i don’t know the languages so plz help me frnds
I am facing difficulties adding meta tag in my blog. Help me.
Very useful information. I have already submitted it. This post will be useful for many beginners.
You would think that Blogger would simply add a settings page for entering the xml text of the Sitemap and then provide the URL for entering into the Webmaster Tools. The feed method doesn’t provide information about a page’s relative priority, change frequency, or last modified date.
Hi !!
Very informative post. I have just started getting familiar with SEO and your turtorial has been very helpful.
Thanks a lot
Govind
Hi,
Thank you so much for your great information. I learn a lot from it. Thanks a lot!
Betty
Thanks for the detailed tutorial! :)
Good useful information. Thanks
Thank you, for nice post.
I think the best way is use this url (as Anthony wrote):
http://blogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100
And when redirect is false then it works also with feedburner.
Nice share. As I turn to a custom domain, the new domain seems to be hardly indeyed by google. Thanks, I’ll try your tutorial.

Thanks to you ,
killer post, the “feeds/posts/full” worked thank you!!!
Thanks for the tutorial,
I believe the new blogger allows sync with webmaster tools where you don’t have to go through the whole meta process.
Enable webmaster tools from your dashboard.
I’m not sure I follow, I don’t see where Google automatically picks up the sitemap for any of my blogs. What “dashboard” are you referencing?
Thanks for the great tip. I don’t realise we can submit sitemap for blogger.com as well.

Thank you i had no idea how to have blogspot sitmaps to submit. I make alot of blogspot websites this should help geting index faster. Great job.
I just tried using the method to insert a sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools. Let’s hope it will also work for me…
it is varified but i don’t understand abt it
Hey thanks for this.. i realy need that..
The link from google don’t work again..
can you help me???????
Thanks it works fine.
Yes, having google sitemap / xml sitemap is the right way to increase visibility of your website to Google as well as to other Search Engines: Yahoo, Bing etc. To get xml sitemap you can can google for something like “Free Online XML Sitemap Generator” and find one that will work for you. Google’s main idea was to make web-sites more “Crawler-friendly” which would help search engines to do their indexing more effectively…
thanks for you great thanks
I just want to say that it is a bit hard for the newbies to understand this post…. As far as i know sitemaps are used only if the pages are not indexed. And pages are not indexed either if the content is a stolen one or if the topic does not match the main keywords of the site. but definitely the content is useful in case the pages are not indexed properly. It is also a good SEO technique as recommended by Google………
Thanks a ton:)

i created sitemap.xml file from online site map generator.how can i submit this in google.plz give me tha link
I had to change my domain name and had to reconfigure site on Webmaster and the site map examples above only allows the latest 26 URL links on your blogger blog; i.e 26 posts. What happens when you have a blog with almost 200 published posts.
Thanks for posting this useful information. I have a little confusion about the URL which we need to post for adding site in google webmaster tools.
Is it
http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full
